About Project

One of the primary issues in warehouse management is to allow for the most efficient process design in the related operations. This basically necessitates space utilization, equipment utilization, labor utilization, quick accessibility of materials or goods stored...etc. Despite the fact that achieving the most efficient design of processes could be possible through different methodologies, the very initial stage would be to remove waste in every stage of operation, to organize and standardize every process in order and address every product stored to a position. In this study, we aimed to approach to this part of research with the purpose of improving the warehouse operations of a company which operates in the meat industry. The observations at the warehouse and interviews with the employees showed that prior to going further with warehouse layout re-design issues, it is necessary to implement 5S methodology of Kaizen strategy to the warehouse processes. This study presents the 5S implementation template development process for a warehouse operating in the meat industry. By the nature of the industry in scope, the framework explained in the study contributes to the research on 5S implementation in cold storage for temperature sensitive products.
